All of this makes sense. Even if it's not specifically a "knockout ray", the implication is that it doesn't destroy like it does to inanimate objects.

Yeah, this series does have some light gore, so with that in mind it's pretty weird that there was no blood seen in all of this.

Well, the production staff gets the right to produce the work however they see fit as long as they can agree. Conversely, everyone who is not part of the production staff gets the right to choose whether they want to read the work or not. I'll give it one more chapter to change my mind, but one of the best ways to lose my interest is to kill a bunch of characters for cheap shock value.
