Honestly it would be hilarious if when a manga got axed the author just decided to have the MC drop dead for no reason.
I've seen a manga end on the most out-of-the-blue wedding, why not a funeral, then?
It could work as a bad ending ('read the novel if you want the good one, suckers!'), or as the classic trope where MC's friends are grieving and remembering the good times, but then a cliffhanger teases that he might be alive.

They simultaneously made the MC so strong early on that you can't ever expect him to be in trouble and have done very little groundwork for expectations from 600 years of refining magic to know what's reasonable or what to expect from these two clashing. The MC is the MC so he will win and whatever means he uses can be justified because we know little about how hax his abilities are.

There can be some degree of stakes with the other characters but MC is just a deus ex machina at all points before this, lol.

I know they're gonna kiss and make up after anyway.

More than the power levels, both characters are wet blankets.

At least this instance actually kinda makes sense. Like she said, she's been honing her craft for six hundred years; it'd have been more unbelievable if she hadn't gotten stronger.
Not really, no. There might be something to be said about wanting to torment her victims or save the sage's body/life force/soul for future experiments, but there is no way she would have let the teacher and his empty meatsuit slip away. She just stops time and either snatches the body away or steps thrue the portal ahead of them.

Point in fact, there would have been no reason to use the exnoble shitstain into capturing his soul in the container. She could have just stopped time, magic-ed it or the person holding it onto his person and target captured.

But no, they draw out the fight, curbstomp the MC for a few chapters, and then allow the MC to pull a bullshit win outta his arse once people start getting bored of the fight.

I dont think this story will continue after this fight end.

This might end to be one of those short mangas. The reason behind this thought is simple. They are the two most overpowered beings in this manga and clashing now. I am not seeing any new enemy being stronger than both of them. It might just show the aftermatch and what happened to everyone after this event and end in a good note.
