im glad the masters can still deflect or avoid the guns, it would have made the mithril weapons useless. much better if we go to enchanted weapons rather than guns.

Ah the evolution of warfare. Less about making elite forces, more about deadly foot soldiers. It's funny that the thing that keep us from reaching doomsday weapon is the fact that there is no profit from total destruction.

I mean, it's the same thing as in Star Wars. Jedi w/ light sabers can deflect blaster fire, but most armies are still blaster based. Because training Jedi/Sith/etc is a major time sink, even if it makes an elite unit that is half impervious to your main weapons... unless surprised apparently (order 66)

And it doesn't even make sense. If he can make modern guns why is he bothering with ballistae? Ok, maybe ammo issues, but then why make an XVIII century cannon? Modern sniper rifle, anti materiel rifle, grenade launcher, mortar - any of these would be better and probably cheaper.
