And it doesn't even make sense. If he can make modern guns why is he bothering with ballistae? Ok, maybe ammo issues, but then why make an XVIII century cannon? Modern sniper rifle, anti materiel rifle, grenade launcher, mortar - any of these would be better and probably cheaper.

My brain hurt to justified why the author wanted to draw it. Other than think its cool. In all honesty the mc should just follow on the tech tree line on "Medieval" all the way to "Semi modern tech weaponry". BUT i don't expect the mc would follow that bs since i don't see him being a historian nerd

Ah the evolution of warfare. Less about making elite forces, more about deadly foot soldiers. It's funny that the thing that keep us from reaching doomsday weapon is the fact that there is no profit from total destruction.

Oh trust me, we HAVE technically already reached a "Doomsday Weapon"..

Also, Elite Forces are still very much important in modern warfare. Especially some of the U.S. Military's "Tier 1" units (DEVGRU, Delta Force, 24th STS, etc.) which are the best in the world. Deployed when it comes to highly-classified delicate, small-scale missions that need "no-fail" soldiers.
