I translated this chapter for two reasons. The raw has been out for a month and hasn’t been translated for a while, and I got some free time to translate it. I sometimes translate series that have a few chapters of untranslated raws to help with the updating. I genuinely did not know about these sniping rules and thought its been a month since it was last updated and has been forgotten already. With that, I won’t translate any future chapters of this series anymore since I unknowingly “snipe” translated this chapter.

There is no such thing as "sniping rules". I do not understand why you would make that decision just because one guy disagreed. There are cases where sniping is kind of a shitty thing to do. But last time I checked, it has always been morally correct to snipe GDS.

Look at Isekai NTR, chapter 50. No upload for 3 months; its usually 1+ chapter per month. Rando puts out a chapter. Immediate drop from DG. Followed by 6 chapters in a month.

That's like a baker putting out bread at regular intervals so that people expect the bread, but then the baker stops putting out bread and stocks it up so that the people (who expected bread) have to pay more to get their usual fix. Then when someone else tries to put out bread, the baker drops their whole stock to flush out the intruder.

Yeah, again, I'm not defending DgScans at all, I've noticed they do similar stuff with other series. I also don't have enough trustworthy info to either condemn or excuse their actions, I can only go by what other people say about it.

I mean, yeah, I knew it would happen eventually, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon... and what I sure wasn't expecting was them touching the back door like that.

Degen released their on schedule planned chapter within the 4-6 week window they usually have for this series...
People are stupid for giving stupid comments like the "like clockwork" and such, which is warranted in the multitude of cases where Degen basicly has abandoned a series until someone tries to take over, it's NOT warranted on a series where someone tries to snipe a series that is regularily updated as scheduled (about every 4-6 weeks).

I've been saying that there are plenty of cases where Degen deserves critique (and where something like the "like clockwork" comment is justified) because they haven't kept to a release schedule and ONLY updated once someone else tried to take over, THIS is NOT one of those cases, they have released 1 chapter about every 4-6 weeks (give or take a few days) for atleast the past year, that's a pretty regular release schedule.
It's no big surprise that Degen would release the planned chapter (which was expected no later than in this week if they kept up with the TL release schedule) immedeatly if someone snipes the series that hey are ACTUALLY actively working on.

I've been vocal against GDS for this shit for years now, and I want to put in my two cents here.

You do have a point that this chapter is scheduled to drop, and the sniper unknowingly thought it was dropped. However, the problem arises when GDS uploaded their TL immediately when they saw when someone else uploaded theirs. Why not stick to the schedule? Or if you already have it prepared and ready to upload, why even have a schedule?

Their reputation has already been tainted and they don't need more drama to be associated with them, so why even give reasons to make their bad reputation more true?
