Yeah, but the sort of artisan machinist job that he has is actually a real thing that existed and disappeared historically in Japan (from what I’ve read at least)I know you need the cliche opening to show the mc is underappreciated but a machinist is one of the few high skilled jobs that you can't easily replace.
Well only the machinist knows how to program and set up the precise cnc machines. I've heard of inept middle management insisting they can be replaced with 3d printers which obviously lack the precision for anything important.Yeah, but the sort of artisan machinist job that he has is actually a real thing that existed and disappeared historically in Japan (from what I’ve read at least)
Also, I don’t understand the whole “more accurate than a machine” thing 💀 like bro it’s in the name, they use machines lmao yes it takes skill but cmon
nah yeah I know being a machinist takes a lot of know how, I’m just saying it also involves machines, they aren’t turning metal by hand. Could be a bad translation though tbhWell only the machinist knows how to program and set up the precise cnc machines. Machinists are scary. They know practical math, physics, and chemistry as well as engineers and they don't mind burning the house down to jerryrig their own solutions. They're up there with doomsday peppers for people who would actually be useful stranded on an island or being isekai'd.
in more ways than one probably.I cast gun.
It's a fictional story... such boundaries don't matter as much.Too much dicking. Even if you are perfectly right about performance, you do not make fundamental alterations in the property of another without prior permission. And, with a large supply of alternative materials, the motivation for making the alteration even with permission isn't there.

Hell, it's only now where people are less connected and more detached where it matters more...
In the older days, we didn't have as much boundaries... if you visit older communities, they are much more friendly and intrusive (in a good way) towards each other.
Hell, it wasn't unusual for neighbors to just walk into the house without knocking in older days (my grandpa and older friends were always like this).

TL;DR This is a fictional world and it was to show off how skilled he is, and in the older days, this kinda attitude was acceptable... we are just pissier now...
Machines are not perfect and not more precise than the supremely talented people that design and manufacture them. They are, however, consistent and ubiquitous. That's why we need them. Also, I don’t understand the whole “more accurate than a machine” thing 💀 like bro it’s in the name, they use machines lmao yes it takes skill but cmon
