If you read the novel to the end of the revenge arc, you will see that the MC orchestrates a massive revenge plot to take down the story's main antagonist. The playboy footballer was merely a puppet.

So, The MC's friends helped handle the underlings, while the MC took on the final boss.

IMHO, Jinsei Gyakuten is already well-written, saving the best part for the very end is definitely the right approach.

Well... i admit that the revenge was kinda satisfactory... but the novel, and the manga, veer too much into wish fulfillment.
