It is Airi,the writing has been incoherent many times so it woudn't be suprising that is the case again.

Let's take it from the flipside, they are happily together and dating this entire time (3~5 months), why does fucboi fail to convince her to refuse the offer, the excuse that he's bad at romance shouldn't be relevant since they're well into a happy relationship by now. All he has to say is something cheesy like "I want your body to only belong to me" type stuff and Sakura would instantly cave because at this point she hasn't talked with Mio yet to find her resolve.

That's the neat part: nothing makes sense and everything is incoherent when, pause for dramatic effect, the writer is shit.

Why would Shinobu care about some characters if they are nothing?

The logic here can't really apply. You don't have to be an item to not care for someone. One key thing to note is it's known Fuckboi sucks at romance. Hence his admitting to using force on Sakura to Blondie in the sex scene which explains why he was so aggressive to her in his actions as I always suspected.

You don't have to be in a relationship to not care for someone. We've never seen Sakura reciprocate those feelings just like with Shinobu towards Fumi. Again it's a parallel.

Fuckboi cares for Sakura in his own way even if it's not that well shown or displayed. I wouldn't put it past them if they're lightly dating but Fuckboi's being unsure of their relationship shows it's not something simple. Why else would he be unsure of how to respond?

To be fair, that's a skill in and of itself. She can't write her way out of a paper bag but she managed to put a bunch of strangers from different age groups, nationalities, religions, genders discussing it as if it was a Kierkegaard essay...

I agree, it's become more interesting than reading the manga itself at points.

That's the writing being all over the place, Sakura's thought process "Well I'm happily in a new relationship right now, but letting my two girlfriends comfort me over my ex doesn't sound too bad".

Edit: If it's revealed they were indeed dating....

We've all mentioned genuinely good ways that this story could have gone when it comes to direction and story telling. THERE WERE WAYS this manga could have been saved even with 129 but ultimately we're not Airi.

I still look back to some of those theories from chapters ago and go "damn, can you imagine?"

Welp in some 12+ hours or so this whole shitshow is finally over. I will either see you all again if I get tagged because she actually managed to write a good ending (doubt) or in a different, much much better manga

Indeed. And I'm starting to think that if she was a better writer, she would have, paradoxically, less success. Controversy can also be a factor in sales.

It's possible. It's likely she simply took her doujin success and tried to apply similar aspects to her mangaka side but it didn't end up being as effective.

All this backlash did get her name out there though so I'm expecting more work.

No I can see her doing more mangaka work. I dont know how her prior manga work went but imagine it like this.

Would we be reacting to GraPara! as strongly as we are now if it didn't have the "Rom-Com" tag in it? Probably not. We'd likely be having very different, or possibly similar, conversations if it was a drama and thriller story from the start. Hell we would have likely seen some scenes differently than we do now.

It could be KA is exploring possibilities. Various genres. Dab a foot into the Rom-Com pool per say. See how things go.

Her manga before grapara was karami zakari and it was a success but the manga before that didn't sell too much.

But i think she won't take managaka works for now to have more creative freedom with her doujinhis now.
