Hi hi,

Don't quite understand your second sentence there, but
for a more action-oriented title where the MC is clearly not invincible and starts off weak, maybe
Almark
100-man no Inochi
Kumo desu ga (until around volume 10?)
NEET dakedo
Kinda want to put Lord-Magear and Goblin Slayer Year One also

Stuff like Isekai Arigatou, etc. are also about grinding, but they're not really action oriented.
Maybe even stuff like Isekai Tensei Soudouki, Kono Sekai wa Fukanzen, Isekai Munchkin, Isekai Meikyuu no Saishinbu

@undeed just got caught up on Almark. That's a really good one. Love the story arc and Mouzan as a character. Don't often get to see him positively like that. Great characters in this and his practice in meditation is admirable. Really nice stuff.

I've already read Kumo desu ga up until she got outside then it fell off for me but gonna check out 100 man no inochi next

I'm assuming you've read Mushoku Tensei...
Up until the 40 year old married the 17 year old, yeah. Dropped at that point.

I felt like his grind wasn't as satisfying personally. If starting with all memories at birth then I preferred The Beginning after the ends grind. Sure he had all the knowledge but his body had limitations that a child's body would have and he had to work hard at the magic system and be mentored multiple times.

Hell Mode's grind was especially satisfying and he is only now getting into OP territory but those first and middle fights were slugfests and he had to use his brain a lot.

I think in terms of nice OP, The Water Magician strikes a nice balance of OP while showcasing the work went into developing a range of spells for various situations though only one fight did that as that "fight" with the Flame magician was more so venting of anger and less killing intent and highlighting his skills and ingenuity...that steam rain was chefs kiss

@undeed mannnnnnnnnnnnn I was loving Isekai Arigatou! I think I got into it a while back before the DMCA and I haven't put any effort into looking into whether anyone/where else had picked it up. That was a phenomenal world building. Fully fleshed out characters.

Also I checked on 100 man no Ichijou or I'm standing on a million lives. I didn't know the Japanese title but started this one on KManga last month and I like it a lot as well. The moral ambiguity, the weight of decisions, the interpersonal relations and very much very much how you use the abilities of the class you have and have had. It really feels like they are living in a fantasy setting. Not just op abilities and everything working out from the jump but having to pivot and rethink an approach. Love it.

I'm honestly scared to check out Goblin Slayer cause I heard there was a lot of 🍇 and like, I'm good. Very much looking forward to your other recommendations tho. You have some impeccable taste
