It seems like it's just really short. The wn was completed after only 53 chapters, the ln is complete at 8 volumes.

I'm guessing they made a deal with the demons and revered the Demon God and gave sacrifices to protect themselves. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.. when really they're yeah, just livestock. The war never ended for these elves. I wonder if humans were manipulated by Demons in the first place. Ironically the Elves would fare better if they went back to siding with humanity.

My guess is, that creature they encountered is a vampire. Which is why it only acted when the night fell.
