The original LN on syosetu was supposed to be a short story. In the description of the work, the author writes:

This is a serialized version of what was originally a short story.

So I'm guessing the story was expanded without proper planning, and then just dropped when the author couldn't be bothered to care about it anymore.

This series could have been something. Even the cop-out winter festival episode or the temporary new guildmaster arc, it could have been possible to make those more engaging.

All we got was incredibly short chapters of barely a story. Average toddler books have more pages than these last few chapters. Toddler books at least have an ending with a lesson.
