Their culture of consideration for the other pardon is strong in Japan. He is probably sick now between accepting something he doesn't want for doing the right thing and letting her feel she had thanked him to her satisfaction and shoving her away, which invalidates her feelings but protects her from rumors.

MC wanted his quiet lunchtime, but by helping the FMC and not doing what likely every other guy before had been doing (confessing to her), he unintentionally got her interested in him. We see here that she's already quite comfortable around him, and this light bantering will be ongoing.

A little different from the LN/WN where he asked her to get him bread to thank him, but she gives him a bento instead.

MC overhearing rumors that are going around about FMC. He will have the expected response of trying to get FMC to not hang out with him anymore, but she firmly puts her foot down and basically says, "Screw what other people think, I decide who I want to hang out with." MC rethinks his position and then accepts having her around during lunch, as, despite his quiet time being disturbed, he doesn't mind this setup.

A similar, yet much milder, case of no means yes. At least she's not threatening to hit him. At least he's not rejecting her for being a creep, but because he's milquetoast.

That guy was willing to use force to get his way, which the FMC isn't doing with the MC at least. MC just wants to go on with his quiet life, but FMC has taken quite an interest in him just because he went against the flow and doesn't have ulterior motives. She is pushy, but doesn't force stuff that would truly make him uncomfortable.

We'll be seeing a lot of the "No means yes" and "Don't mind me" gags in this story. We'll find that the stuff she pushes through ends up benefiting the MC in the long run, so he ends up not minding these changes over time
