Adult CPR is done by pressing down on a supine patient's chest, midline and between the nipples, using both hands. Chest compressions should be done at a rate of 100-120 BPM (Stayin' Alive, or rather ironically, Another One Bites The Dust, are perfect examples of the correct pace) and a depth of 5-6 cm (or one-third of the chest). Ventilations should be done with the head-tilt chin-lift, using just enough force to allow the chest to rise and without forcing air into the stomach. The ratio of chest compressions to ventilations is 30:2, and ventilation should be done with a pocket mask or bag-valve mask when possible to avoid infection.
Child/pediatric CPR is done with one hand only at a depth of 4-5 cm, and a ratio of 15:2 only with two-rescuers. Otherwise, proceed with the usual 30:2 ratio.
Infants are either done with the thoracic squeeze if there are two rescuers (grabbing with both hands, pressing with thumbs) or two fingers to compress the heart on a flat surface.

Keep in mind that with CPR you are going to separate the cartilage from the ribcage and hurt the patient. You are prioritizing life over limb at that point, so chest compressions with sufficient force are the only thing that will keep blood flowing to the patient's organs.
Patients are considered adults after the onset of puberty. Child/pediatric patients are those over 1 year of age to the onset of puberty. Infants are between one month and one year of age. Neonates are newborn to 4 weeks of age.

Also, as an addendum, for neonates (0-28 days) the ratio is 3:1 compressions to respirations.
