Because most armies in the series don't have female martial artists or warriors. The MC is the exception cause he needs to meet the harem quota.

Wend really blew it here with his Japanese mentality. He should have stood up, kissed her forehead, and whispered promises of a date and nighttime rewards.

Though this might have sparked some heated comments from the more martial members of his harem

The author clearly tells us time and time again there is no way the other side gonna have some surprise against them and it went exactly like that...
What even is the point of this arc being put in chapters? They can just do a summary of events transpired and get on with it if this arc was a stepping stone for later conflicts instead of doing this very boring 'tournament arc'.
