@Sep10trion I don't think there was any actual reason or right to any of the treasure. He "owned" it but only until the kingdom could pay him for it and the kingdom has to have it all. Its one of those "You found a god killing sword? Well you can't have that, sell it to the guild or there will be trouble" scenario's. The kingdom cannot let this find go unrewarded or at all. Its too valuable to the nation itself, far more than any monetary amount. He can buy an airship of his own if your allowed to own one but he cannot keep these ships as they are unregulated and potentially dangerous. It also sets a precedent of people keeping powerful ancient artifact for themselves. The kingdom needs to keep that power for themselves.

Anyway i am just glad i remembered what this was, and when it got past this arc too! I actually forgot and didn't read it since old guy fainted. I saw it update but just thought it was something else that i don't read. The cover page looks like a lot of...inferior content. Good stories tend to look certain ways. Bad stories i still like look certain ways too. This looked like the kind of story that isn't quite what i am after.

At the current time they have no need for an airship, can't staff an airship, can't supply an airship without buying everything from the kingdom and pretty much has no way of getting a route to use for the airship without the kingdom.

With that kind of money, they could fund the construction of updated factories, and train and hire workers to operate them. People often overlook the utility of the flushable toilet, the toothbrush, the water heater, the refrigerator, the air conditioner, the stove, and other things taken for granted in modern life. It's a poor isekai story that dumps all of the "I have knowledge from modern Earth" to just become "lol fantasy with cheat powers".

It's kind of meaningless to have infinite money, seeing how he got it in exchange for stuff money can't buy. If we were realistic, he should watch his back as well. The country will struggle to operate with those payments draining the budget year after year. However, if those guys suddenly disappeared, were proclaimed traitors, etc, all the financial troubles would be gone. It doesn't really even need to be anything that dramatic with the MC being such a pushover. I could see somebody working for the king coming to renegotiate it, lamenting how the kingdom is doing so poorly, people are suffering, bla bla bla, and the MC would agree to have only 10% of the reward paid in the end. Or they just trick him otherwise since he's so gullible. They could even turn the population against them, spreading rumours the MC and his merry bunch are robbing the country's money.

He has zero dreams or ambitions, so I doubt he will even try to get himself involved in the research of the stuff they found.

I think they said that the magic ships were opterated by effectively State owned enterprises of the kingdom so with more ships they can run more services and move more goods around plus the other stuff from the dungeon sounds like the kingdom will more than make back what the reward is if anything balumm would be better off disappearing himself since it seems like its more of a hassle to be involved with the king and the court

That would mean the kingdom having another debt to them, which is something that the kingdom might not really want.
Even if the kingdom allowed them, the earnings from the bond will be taxed, so it then evens out in the end and the investment becomes redundant.
