I think its overstated how much it costs the kingdom, i would guess the "over 20 years" is made to fit it in the existing budget. 2 trillion yen are "only" about 18,3 billion dollar, if we look at the castle of the king and stuff it doesnt seem like the kindom is some very small country, after all they had planed a budget of 2,3 billion dollar to fit out a single airship (even if its a big one) plus, they dont just loose the money, they get advanced technology (making other stuff less costly in the future), new airships (which is also a + for the economy) and an full army of golems. Tbh, for what is gained about 100 billion dollar isnt that much in the first place.

Still, just beating the MC with money doesnt make sense, i mean, its not like he will ever need more in his life now... needs to be something else... xD
