For that privilege nobels have to train armies take care of the land maintain order and laws etc. They have a lot on their hands. It's a live in government position. Ones that are corrupt screw over everyone else and makes living hard for everyone. You see examples of good nobels and government officials. They normally are the fallen nobels in these stories who stuck it out for everyone else. Ones who have to trade their children off for some kind of benefit. Rarely do you see what happens to the fallen Nobel who was just a shitty nobel because they are normally killed off.
