To me it feels a lot more natural; he's taking the initiative like a good friend would. The whole problem is caused by him not noticing that he's too perfect, after all, and one could even argue that the story is about him having the MC syndrome in the first place.

Well there is a major problem in the friends group now, it's probably because he feels behind the MC in everything: study, basketball and now singing

I do feel like the author was a bit too on the nose with how often we got "what's his problem? Oh well, I should stay out of it."

Not to mention the ever-increasing flags with Uta that he thinks nothing of.

Generally, it's a good thing to want to help your friends. I don't think it's that weird to see a problem and try to fix it. It's a very normal and human impulse. See also: the compulsion to tell someone how to solve a puzzle in a game as they fumble it for ages.

From what I understand, she does actually like MC, at least later on. I just read pieces and stuff fast through the raws and from others here
