If any of y'all have enjoyed this series please please please at least visit the raws and do it some justice. The mangaka is rather downcast over the scanlation and feels bad about it.

gnawing on the walls of my enclosure because of the sheer cuteness and warmth, but also that last panel felt Disturbing because her smug facial expression looks way too much like the smug facial expression of the senpai from the last few chapters

if the author's really setting up something this Genuinely Wholesome just to knock it down with some kind of Sordid Realism, I... respect them? I fear them. They scare me.

like, overall, thematically, what I'm feeling rn is a sense that the author's point is that this kind of extreme attachment is really fun and feels harmless in the moment but becomes really scary and intense in the long run

so i'm scared

but also this chapter really nailed the feelings of warmth and connection/vulnerability, the "fun" of it all, the author really made it feel good and healthy, so then the implication that it's actually unhealthy is a Deeply Intimidating move by the author idk

This manga was already good, but since Haruyo revealed herself, it's been peak. She's just the best.

did kasumi ever call her name/nickname? I read this in one go but so far I only remember "onee-sama" was called paruyo by her friends, but kasumi hasn't called her by name ever since their first meeting I think.

So, I’m finally caught up (One more chapter won’t ruin your bedtime Emily. You just have to stop and leave some for tomorrow… or not…)

Something I‘ve wanted to point out all this time, especially for those taken aback by the tonal change the last few chapters, is that Kasumi and Haruyo’s relationship has been kink coded from the start. Mizuki and Sayori’s relationship is a natural, if a little more extreme progression of the same dynamics.

See, kink doesn’t have to be sexual. The ritual of exchanging ribbons, the literal exchange of seniority and power dynamics, is one central to a dom/sub relationship and scene. The thrill and psychological release both our girls get from releasing their previous roles and adopting the other is exactly the same kind of pleasure and psychological release as say a high powered executive going to a professional dominatrix after work to wind down and relax.

In fact this whole series could be seen as a reflection of modern BDSM dynamics through the lens of old S-type relationships and that’s fucking FASCINATING. The thrill of ‘secrets’, flagging and signalling, the understanding one gets from finally meeting those who ‘get’ your thing. And the shame one can feel when communication is not made. I eat this stuff up! @Beltaro keep it up, you are constantly doing the goddesses’ work 🫡

That jacket feel so violated bro, you ain't had to do bro like that

Oh god their interlocking fingers, their already sooo lewd bro

I'm yapping to yap I'm reading this too late but to keep with the schedule but insomnia tends to make my comments stupid, altho if I technically fell asleep then woke up is insomniac even the issue? I like spiderman 2s story

AHAHA THE END IS NIGH, Well the end is here, and it hit me like a freight train
And is actually mean I'm caught up, not that the end is nigh

Oh god yes more of the them being cute in the library oh wait... Since the relationship is technically already established that means they didn't fall into the trap and I didn't even notice, already in the post get together arc so early on MEANING ALLS MORE WILL BE ABOUT THIER RELATIONSHIP

HAVE A NICE DAY

Awesome chapter of course... so shockingly saccharine!! I'm somewhat surprised honestly lol. I think people are right to expect a harsh turn in our future, but Im pretty optimistic about out long-term prospects; I think they can make it.

I have to note though... she didn't say it back.
Nooo, don't bring my attention to that :meguuusad: I was so certain almost everything was fine

The raw chapter.

Back-to-back lethal doses of fluffy and toxic yuri? Chapter 12 didn't come in halves so it's likely intended as a simple breather. But it's nice to be back to private time between Kasumi and Haruyo, along with returning the written exchanges. There's a lot of power in that little "I love you."

Speaking of power in little gestures, we get more hints of Kasumi's trauma that likely go over Haruyo's head. Her surprise at how easy it is for Haruyo to hug her, her hesitance towards committing to the future, her shifting feelings towards studying that were likely rooted in guilt. Though of course Haruyo's being almost too respectful now of Kasumi's space, even as she shocks Kasumi by slipping under her coat this time. Not that she seemed to mind. Haruyo might be a dork but she's gentle and considerate enough to take Kasumi's pain when the time comes.

There's a lot of winks given that Kasumi/Haruyo won't be just like Sayori/Mizuki, but we see their worth as role models. That classic fear of transient relationships common to Class S and old yuri dispelled with an exchange sounding suspiciously like a proposal. Though, with Kasumi turning more gay gremlin than ever, you know you need to bask in this happiness while it lasts.
Anxiously awaiting the bliss of a chapter 13 translation :)

This chapter and volume overall is amazing. I feel like this chapter is gaslighting us into believing "Hey look! Everything is completely normal between Kasumi and Haruyo." But the cracks are beginning to show.
Kasumi knows she’s not ‘perfect’ and tries to martyrdom herself by giving Haruyo away. She knows that move was egotistical and rooted in her own, what I perceive, worthlessness? Guilt? Trauma? But rather than facing her insecurities alongside Haruyo, she retreats into the fluff and continues with the innocent, pure little sister role. It hurts to see Kasumi knowingly walk back into her delusions to avoid the pain. This chapter following the last one is like waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Awesome series so far and thank you for the translation and notes.

i mean unless one of them moves halfway across the country b/c of their parents work or something they could move in together as adults.

tho i'm sure there are a lot of close friendships and such who never see each other again after school
