I burst into tears at page 8.
Recognizing Yamabe years later, all off the daydream image of straw-hat hair and sunflowers burned into her memory, is breath-taking, and encapsulates the profound impact Yamabe left on Mia-san.
The detective work, the constant wondering, Mia likely growing even closer to her classmates all in an effort to find her Desk Ghost--it's too much. That she even found her, but could never pinpoint Yamabe or talk to her then, is heartbreaking, but makes this reunion all the more a triumph.
The visuals are perfect and sublime as always. Nothing I say about the tone or the soft lighting or the emotional penstrokes will be novel here compared to previous chapters, but the showing of their schoolgirl selves in Mia's confession of happiness in reuniting is inspired.
And the fact that a five-month timeskip sees them on a trip over a decade in the making is the perfect pacing.
So much must have happened in that space of time, only for them to walk off into an Earth-bound field of Sunsets, hand-in-hand, and I don't think I could have hoped for anything more.
I only hope they do make an appearance again, even if their story is concluded with this delight of a 53-page work of art, just to see if Mia has cracked Yamabe's "ninny-ness" and captured her heart, in turn.
Thanks for all you do in TL'ing this series.
