To be honest, I guess I'm on the complaining side of things. But I think it's kinda normal, honestly. So I don't really feel bad for that.

Yes this is ecchi slop. But even in this type of manga, there is usually progress.
Things improve with time and characters go through personal growth. You can have expectations for a story, of sorts.

Take this one, which goes beyond the ecchi into actual sex

The art is great but the story is slop. Is it a great manga? No. But if you compare the beginning of the manga with the latest chapters, both the MC and the girls have much changed in their interactions. There's actually a plot beside the erotica.

But here we are literally stuck in the same hellish place forever. And Takamine keeps being as much trash as she was in chapter one. The MC has tried a couple of time of moving things forward actually, but her? Not a single change
And she still keeps harassing him for no reason whatsoever...

I think it's perfectly normal to expect something more, and to be disappointed when you actually don't get it. Should I stop reading since I don't like the story? Probably so, but there's a tiny part of me that still hope for a "good" ending....

Woah, woah, woah apparently it's completely unreasonable to set any expectations on ecchi slop, despite your example and various others of tits/ass and decent enough plot/action/drama/stakes.

Honestly if they were just able to enjoy the slop with no judgement of it why even reply to the completely valid criticisms of the various flaws in the characters, relationships etc.

Somehow we can't let go of issues, that are still valid in the current chapter btw, MC is still a complete pushover, Takamine is an arsehole and the side characters vary from tolerable to horrific creatures from the dark beyond like Yuri girl here.

But of course pointing any of that out is just being unreasonable and we're killing the vibe. It's hilarious because I own all but the latest available volume of this manga, this fucker has got my money so I have a god given right to complain.

I think many people take this way too seriously, so I agree there. It's meant to be a comedy and is not trying to be realistic. I regularly see lengthy comments discussing the morality of Takamine and Shirota's relationship in frustration, and I have to sit back a bit. It's 60 chapters in. Personally, I have fun with it.
It might not come across as it because i exaggerate my negative feelings for what id hoped to be comedic effect, but i am having fun with it.

Not in the sense that i am enjoying the plot mind but i find looking at stories from different viewpoints to be entertaining and criticising a manga like this works wonders to relieve stress for me.

Also, looking at a work and thinking about what i like/dont like and what makes it work/ not work for me has helped me improve as a writer personally and i think sharing those observations with others is worthwhile, as i often come into contact other views or insights when i read comments from other users.

Man the end of this mini arc can't come soon enough, not only is Shinagashi just a terrible character but all this drama over a "competition" for who becomes her new closet is utterly pointless because everyone and their mother knows things will just go back to how they were before the arc started anyway.

He lost? Unthinkable. Of course he would lose, it's impressive that she'd go to such lengths to take him down, a second time, mind you. In comparison to her Shirota didn't even try. If Takamine's choice was down to who is more devoted, she'd win, but it isn't. is it?
Shinagashi isn't someone who will just give up, so winning with her is meaningless anyway. She (or Shirota) has to be removed from the equation entirely to make it work.

Also she already made him to look like a panty thief, so he's life at school is already over, if Takamine won't redo all of it.

"He stole my panties!"

"Oh teehee I dropped my panties! Thanks for picking them up!"

So she lies and nobody calls her out on it? Cool.

So...it's just me reading the series normally? Not like I'm think it's a masterpiece or anything but I don't think this is even that entertaining to hate read tbh, or feel 'sunk cost', tho tbf hate reading for me is alien because I can only feel hate to something that I thought was good otherwise I just drop it and this really doesn't seem the case for most people.

Not saying that you can't criticize but it's kinda wild for me that people read something that show things they don't like, see no signs of progress and still continue reading hoping for the impossible or just feel annoyed.
Yeah I have to say I'm continuously baffled by a lot of the comments here. It's like they don't realize what they're reading. Shirota being submissive to Takamine is central to the entire premise. The Manga just does not work without it. And I for one am glad it's that way.

To me this is like seeing people watching Mr Bean and going "Goddammit, when is he going to get his shit together?"

Shirotsla being thr closet is the central theme. Him having no character development or reverse growth is the issue. In a traditional Romcom at a minimum one of the lead characters of not both helps/causes their counterpart to grow. (Example in Anjou-san, Anna helps make Seto more confident. While Seto helps Anna understand she can be successful academically to follow her dream. Mutual improvement.) I this manga Shirota has had a few moments of growth caused by Takamine, until we hit this arc where it vanishes. Takamine has had no growth/character development besides she likes Shirota from the Cat experience. The lack of forward development for either ot them is the issue.
