Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the reason Sendo survived the counter because he didn't go all in on his swing? Or at least because he was prepared for it?

@AztechDan Yes, most likely. Sendo made a good show of balling up his fist as if it wasn't broken. Gonzales didn't notice breaking it in the first place since he was half-conscious at the time, so he thought it was a full-powered right.

Couple of things are debatable...was it Sendo's plan all along or did he come up with it on the spot...would he have used a low power feint if he hadn't had his hand broken...how much of the exchanges from before was groundwork laid by Sendo for putting Gonzales into a state of mind where he finally thought his counter would work....etc.

But...I'm fairly certain essentially feinting into the counter was how he survived. If Ippo didn't see that even though he too noticed the hand fracture...then he indeed does have more to learn. Ricardo sure noticed...likely even foresaw what would happen after Sendo's hand broke.

The shot of Sendo declaring Viva Mexico really resonated with me, a strong warrior who had just defeated the hometown hero declaring that their warriors in turn are strong enough to stand against the world.

I'm watching this to see how Takamura achieves his dream. Every frame with Ippo is a wasted frame.
