Hmm, I'm okay with it. I am looking forward to seeing a breakdown of where or how it fell apart for Mashiba. Right now, it feels a little jarring because he seemed OKAY up to this point. There wasn't a lot of signs that he was in deep shit, maybe partially because he's one of the least expressive boxers in the manga.
Compared to um... let's say Date vs Ricardo. You could see the guy was basically dying and you could totally buy into him falling short despite hitting the master plan. I think it's like the other guy said, the execution is suspect. But, I'll wait for the follow up chapters to reserve judgement.
You know Hajime no Ippo is not the same manga it was in yesteryear but, it is something to see so many people still so invested in it to this day.
