Yeah sucks for him, dude ended up as collateral damage due to Ozu indecisiveness unfortunately. Put honestly this is better than a marriage where your wife really forcing herself into the relationship but doesn't really love you and is secretly miserable/lonely.

I do think a good dude like him will eventually find someone who can match his love tbough, so it should all work out in the end.
