Loving the updates!

I'm intrigued by the use of the word "embalm" for the hats! I wonder if that's to signify that the hat is being laid to rest? Or maybe the word could have been "emboss."
I'm also curious about that. Is the connotation with funereal rites intentional, or is the focus on preservation, or something else entirely?

Also, is this the first time they've been depicted unambiguously as solid helmets? I probably missed or forgot it, so this chapter came as a total surprise bit of lore.

On the raw, yoro-chan says 防腐処理 (bofu shori) on that exact dialogue which can mean preservation work. I only translate directly from Japanese to English so that exact word may mean another thing if it had been previously mentioned on earlier chapter with a different context, my apologies for that. I always suggest to refer to the official release if you need more clearance regarding ambiguities because they're obviously more reputable to understand from 😄

Unfortunately, in the Hakumei & Mikochi world guide book, it is mentioned that the hat materials are different from each other and there is no word saying that the hats have to be solid. Or maybe it is a standard to have the hat solid that they dont need to mention it, we may never know 😅
