I wonder if this story will ever go there. I have really liked how it has tackled difficult topics in the past.

I think it could. From my perspective of the acceptance of their relationship;
1. The friends part would not be any problem at all. The only reason why they are keeping it a secret from them in the first place is to not get teased and save themselves from embarrassment. Also the possibility of them already knowing and just playing along could be a possible scenario, like @guffynator said below. If anything it would make Nanoha and Chidori even more embarrassed when and if they do come out to their friends and they just say "yeah, we knew but it was fun seeing you both try to hide it"
2. Nanoha's family might be fine. Her little sister knows about them and is fine, either teasing or having fun skirting around them like at the sleepover. Don't think we got much from the Mother other than she seemed quite nice and was surprised by Chidori's politeness.
3. This is probably where the drama could come from, which is Chidori's Grandmother. I know she's been in a few recent chapters but I don't think we have a grasp on her personality and values from what I'm aware of. She might also be a really nice and understanding person when it comes to modern relationships, but she can also still be quite nice but hold a more traditional set of values and will not take them seriously. Its easy to target the older one out of these examples, and it may not go that way at all with them all accepting them and it being drama free.

iirc there is a new girl that show up around chapter 60 and she is kinda into nanoha, but dont remember what was her deal or if there was drama involving her because been quite a while, and there was a time when ursunday page was down and was unable to check raws, so prepare for anything during the 60s and 70s , raws are up to 77 and she is still there lol
