Actually, Takaya rejected Hanakawa 3 times already...

1. Arranged marriage interview thing.
2. After the company trip seeing her efforts up to that point.
3. Now that the jig is up, with Hanakawa basically stalking him after first rejection.

Takaya reason being alone so far is because it's comfortable not taking care of anyone, because it's just really a "hassle", although he had a brief moment of being comfortable with someone else being in his life.
Honestly, can understand, so far it's physically and mentally tasking, the latter gave me too much scars so I'd rather be left alone than try again lol
