@Serenata That scene was the classic "mistaken for gay" moment, even emphasized by other characters. And the author said several times in an interview that he prefers to avoid any ecchi/yuri/harem fanservice, as he considers this a cheap attraction of the reader with something other than the plot. Therefore, anime adaptation cut out 90% of all such scenes. Of course, I can repeat once again why I consider yuri fan's complaints about harems a rather hypocritical practice, but I just don’t need another meaningless flame.
But in this case, everything is much simpler. The author considers Coach as his alter ego, and Nagisa is his favorite character. So, as they say, do the math. As for the end of the manga, if I remember correctly, the author promised to finish it at the end of this year.
