many years ago a Japanese gymnastics athlete, performed in the Olympics an exercise even with a broken leg, for a matter of honor. He later ,with severe sequels for life, admitted that he regretted this decision for the rest of his life.

It is curious how mangakas repeat the first part of the story over and over again in sports manga and forget the second part of the story. It is only one match and they risk injuries that would leave her not only out of the nationals but also crippled for life... :/

Not only is it just one match, its a match that they don't actually have to play because they've already qualified for the nationals. Its literally just being done to satisfy Nagisa's ego because she can't stand the thought of playing alongside her without first settling a grudge from a match that Ayano doesn't even really remember. They could have their revenge match literally any time, but it has to be now, for reasons.

@vick_detri Most mangakas that writes a sort of realistic sports series either don't have the experience with real life high level competitive sports, or they are just lazy to do the research that is needed. It's a heck of a lot I know but still would make their stories better. The others just bullshit their way with almost magical skills and such.

Sorry it looks stupid, but for many athletes and even artists ... Living the moment is the best, for them, this match is the most important match of their life right now so I understand how they feel and how easy is to forget about the future when you feel that you're in your peak.

@serenata I don’t critic the players, almost all the high profile players that I’ve ever meet were stubborn, but the coach the referee the federation people should be act better. They are breaking their futures aces allowing it and they know that always there will be another play tomorrow and the player's worst enemy is always all the injury, physically and emotionally.

playing with heavy injures risk just for the drama, is an awful and cheap solution in many mangas. Only in few times, the injure were permanent or really help to grow the MC .

As someone with a long term (possibly life long) knee injury from sports, please stop her, coach.

This your typical romantic nonsense that writers feel they can't do without. In real life both players would be well aware that they shouldn't risk anything in this match just before they have to appear at the nationals and probably wouldn't even need cautioning to resist the urge to go all out.
Still... It's the best match so far. And I already loved that match against the Chinese athlete.
