Think my issue is that the author and illustrator don't seem to be in sync. We are shown in text prompts that the princess is rotten and plotting against the MC, but baring a few chat bubbles the illustrator doesn't seem capable or willing to properly distort her appearance to reflect her true motivations even when she is in a private setting.

Thisnhas been throwing me off, as well; I think we've been spoiled by some of the ridiculously good Akuyaku Reijō titles that show so many good evil faces... and nothing will ever beat Heavy Knight Isekai for wildin faces....
