I have so many mixed emotions. Like it's trying to be a fluffy manga (and I do enjoy it for the dopey food moments), but there's this... gnawing sensation in the back of my mind of what if this leads to an affair. I am struggling to understand what the overall goal of this manga is...

How would this lead to an affair?

I just don't know where this manga is going loll I think I have an idea, but it creates conflicting emotions

Like, I don't care if a person has a past or anything like that, life's like that and expecting everyone to remain "pure" or whatever is pretty fucking dumb

But idk, I just feel like the ML is being a bit of a pushover and the FL is kinda taking advantage of the situation, tho maybe she's just an airhead and is totally oblivious of the situation, so then it's not really her fault...

Hmmm idk idk idk...

I feel like this is a series that needs to be binge-read to really grasp the whole picture, otherwise, every chapter feels like it's constantly blue-balling you loll

At this point, it feels very contrived that MC isn’t asking her the questions we all want answered. It’s hard to believe the author expects us to accept this level of avoidance without any justification. My guess is they’ll handwave it with some flimsy excuse—like saying MC is too afraid to ask, so he just dodges them. But if that’s the case, it’s just lazy writing. The story would be much stronger if the characters showed even a shred of realism.

Thanks for the chapter!

It's a cultural thing in Japan, as I understand it. Respect is very important, and that also comes with respecting someone's time, personal space, and privacy. People will often turn away or avoid prying due to a very strong sense of "it's none of my business", so prying into the details of her personal life is a very high hurdle. Especially in part because it's been so long and their relationship is still kind of murky.

And then there's always the possibility of getting an answer you'll really regret getting. Like finding out someone important to you is dealing with something so much worse than you're able to handle or help with, or something terrible that changes the way you see them.

I don’t know, but it doesn’t seem like a cultural thing to me. Take chapter 3, for example:

If it were truly a cultural thing, MC's friend wouldn’t have asked that question. Plus, based on MC's response, it’s clear he just didn’t think to ask about the girl’s father, which feels unnatural. The more time passes, the less natural it becomes.

Pushing his motives without clearing up her situation first? Only stupid ass grown adult who would do that.
But for real tho, this is the perfect time to revealing the backstory. If after this she still doesn't tell anything, then i give up with this manga.

Because this manga lacks of explanation, it really makes your mind wonder.
No matter how many times the author sweeping it under the rug by adding some fluff moments, the dirt will still be there. The longer it goes without an explanation, the more unrealistic it becomes. It only makes MC looks more like a simp and FMC like a leech the longer it keeps going.

(though i think the author genuinely want to push them as a couple. So they will probably throw some sad backstory and give them a happy ending)

It's hard to feel "fluffy" about any "progress" in their relationship given the background.

We know they dated but how did they break up? It sounded like she just up and disappeared and now she just waltzes back into his life with a kid. If it was some normal breakup where they grew apart or something then I could see this as a story of them rekindling their relationship at a different part of their lives but if she just up and left him without a word, then she's wrong as hell for even going back to ask him for any kind of favor.

The thing is, he should feel some kind of way about it. But it's clear that he's such a simp that the elephant in the room won't get addressed unless some outside force forces it and that's why the attempt at any "fluffy" vibes falls flat. There's nothing "fluffy" about their relationship no matter how airheaded you try to make the woman.

I mainly still read this because it's so confusing to me that it makes me curious how the author will try to develop the story with such glaring flaws. Will we actually get any answers for why she left him in the first place, what relationship she had she got her daughter from, and why she approached him specifically? Because as it is, it looks like a sad man being exploited by a woman.

I think the biggest issues with this manga would have been fixed if they had dated for at least a few years in the past and had some real history. If they had parted due to whatever reason on good terms, it would have made the MC seem at least a bit less simpish and if their first interaction would have been the FMC asking for help in a more seious fashion rather then just taking up shop without a word would have made things much better.
