The Taisho era (when the caves were supposedly rediscovered) was betwen 1912 and 1926 - buuut the information I find says about "Onigashima Great Cave"
- This 400-meter-long artificial cave, located near the summit of Washigamine Mountain, was discovered in 1931 by Sentaro Hashimoto, a local historian residing in Takamatsu City. He linked the cave to the legend of Momotaro, giving rise to the island's nickname, "Onigashima" (Demon Island). It was later developed as a tourist cave .
Source is supposedly Kagawa Prefecture Historical Walking Tour Committee (ed.), "Historical Walks in Kagawa Prefecture," Yamakawa Publishing, 2013, p. 292, or rather 香川県の歴史散歩委員会 編『香川県の歴史散歩』、山川出版社、2013年、292頁。.
