There are a number of ways to handle this sort of thing, including this method, but honestly someone will probably still complain at the translator no matter how they do it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but eventually someone would get a bug up their ass about a joke that just doesn't translate to begin with. I'd say "good enough" since I realized what was going on pretty quickly.
