I think the first time I heard of Takoyaki was from Medabots. They called them octopus balls but for when it came out it was a pretty good dub. Anyway, I wanna try them one day.

At least here in southern Europe we do eat octopus. I'm not particularly a fan of its rubbery texture but the taste isn't bad at all.

I'm hard pressed to think of a culture that don't eat octopus at all, unless they are landlocked or something. Why do they think it's rare thing to eat? It'd be more understandable if it's something more exotic like maybe Fugu or Shirako (or whale).

Happened to oxtail too. Was considered a poor man's food due to being the literal tailbone of a cow and now it's become expensive thanks to influencers overseas.

Well, offal tends to have a bad rep because of how "icky" it is, but it's actually pretty good and very nutritious, so it might fit the bill?
