Just wondering, Emeralda put the end of the gate far into the sky so it would not be detected, but Suzuno put it on the floor and nothing happens.

With what we were told in this chapter, i cannot see a happy ending for the daemons: the closest to it i can think of is for the daemons to exhaust the magic energy and mingle with the humans, but humans are all the time in conflict, so they would get found out easily, and the energy would not be enough to fight back.
More successful would be to strike a secret deal with the human kings: we invade an area of your choice to make you look as the good guys and stop conflict amongst humans, and we get the humans to keep the fear within them with each incursion. But i doubt this would work for long.
Another would be to take some humans as slaves to the daemon world to feed from their despair, similar to Matrix, but humans would strike back sooner or later, to look good in front of their vassals.

@Wolfie_Fenri I don't know where you got the sibling thing since Suzuno even mentioned Chiho in this chapter to foreshadow it (plus it's kinda obvious to me). From the top of my head, the times where she got to like him more and more is when they work together like at the Sasaki farm arc and that time they're shopping for TVs (in a pseudo double date with Ashiya and Rika).

What I'm trying to say is, it's hardly surprising to me at this point.

ps: idk how I forgot just a few chapters ago, Maou saved Suzuno at Chiho's school (and then do the cliche harem protagonist entered her room when she's treating her injuries)

The LN will end on volume 21 in August, it was suppose to end sometime in July but due to the pandemic it got pushed back to August, so until then we have no idea who he’s going to end up with. But if I had to guess my bet would be on Emi,

in the latest volume (20) it’s been a week since she and Maou have been living together, for the sake and happiness of Alas Ramus. I think if they live longer together, Maou may end up developing romantic feelings for her and may finally understand what it’s like to fall in love with someone. Which should allow him to give a proper response to Chiho and Suzuno’s confession.

But then again, it honestly could very well be Chiho in the end that Maou chooses, considering

Maou already knows how she feels about him, not to mention she kissed him and told him she’ll wait for him to initiate the kiss next time.

So who knows really, we’ll just have to wait and see.

IKR!? The wait is going to be excruciating, especially given the fact that the manga is only at volume 9 or 10 of the Light Novel, meaning we'll be waiting a very long time until we get to this moment in the manga lol.

Yup! They are living together, all three of them, Maou, Emi and Alas Ramus at Emi's place. It is the sweetest thing. Both Maou and Emi were against it at first but they both agreed in the end that it's something they had to do for their daughter in order to stabilize her emotional and mental health crises as this was something Alas Ramus have yearned for the most; To be with both her "parents" and be pampered by them as she have been feeling lonely due to Maou and Emi's negligence of her. So now they're giving their best to create a real family atmosphere for their daughter. They even sleep on the same floor together, but of course in different futons, only this time Alas Ramus is not inbetween them since she sleeps in the bed.
