@Stained-Rose
The only thing keeping me from dropping this is the slightest hope that the artist has some creative freedom and will decide to change the ending

Y'now what's annoying,
after all those maou x Emilia moments including hugging, tsundere moments etc, we get chi chan and maou while Emilia becomes the unmarried mom. Wtf were u sniffing while writing that shit author.

I know a lot of people ship Maou and Emi, myself included. But in truth there’s just too much baggage between them for them to become a lovey doves family

@VermillionOcean thats still a lot regardless. The whole war, invading her lands, destroying the farm. Theres still a lot to be resentful of, even if you can forgive it, realistically people won't be able to totally move past stuff like that to become lovers.

I kinda wanted to see the manga version of the other arcs (since we're never getting s2 after this backlash for the ending), but maybe it ending here might mean he can change the ending? Unless he ends it as how the arc end in the novel and does a "Read the novels to find out the rest~"

As for ppl saying we're only upset about the pairing, ha. Lmao. No. It's not just that. Maouemi is one part, simply because their relationship and dynamic has been a central focus since the start and even after it became more Chiho-focused, it didn't become Maouchi focused. Maou and Emi were still interacting, still learning about each other, still developing together.

And ofc, there's the fact that basically every other plot point we were building towards also got shafted, rushed and left open-ended??? And that Maou, Emi and Chiho's characters got scuffed and did a 180 in this final chapter??

So no, it isn't just about Maouemi. It's about the author ignoring his own build-up and internal logic to give us this ending. For whatever reason.
