It has a decent amount of romance imo but it's not the focal of the story. There's three main love interests

and in the light novel (which will eventually happen in the manga too) two of the girls have confessed, neither one got a reply yet

and not much really goes on with the third girl (Suzuno) at least compared with the other two, Chiho and Emilia.

As far as where the light novel is at, it feels to me that Emi has the best chances, but the relationship between her and Maou is a bit of a complicated one considering things that happened in the past, not to mention their reputation as the hero and demon lord respectively which doesn't help their situation. There is some development between them though especially from the time Alas Ramus entered the picture and the two of them filling the parental role as her surrogate parents. Sadly a lot of their moments together are in the missing chapters, so hopefully that gets fixed soon. I'm personally not a fan of Chiho but she has some good moments with Maou too, their moments together will happen more often in the later chapters and there's one particular scene where she basically "one-up" the two other girls. But I'm rooting for Emi and I'm hoping it's her and Maou in the end.
