IDK if i could get a cat to like/tolerate me enough for a brush/light bath/wipe down but for clippers i'd rather go to either a pro or just make them use a scratching post

if not something like this XD (well assuming cats don't slip out of that), or if not just straight up giving them a sleeping pill the same way some pets get sedated while on a long plane ride

I would suggest a groomer then. Vets will do it too, but only in extreme cases.

But cats can 100% be trained to be ok with having their nails clipped! I used to foster before my husband lost his job, and even the older foster cats could be taught to allow some handling of their paws.
Both of my cats now are very good about it, are super well behaved when we trim their nails or handle them in any way.
You just gotta be patient and calm.

The whole point is that a scratching post does NOT shorten the nails. At least not as effectively as trimming them. Our cats have a scratching post, which they use, and we still need to trim their nails because they do get long and VERY pointy (which is another reason to trim them, to take the points off and make them less dangerous)

So I actually HAVE accidentally cut one of my cats claws at the quick. Funny enough, I don't think she even noticed, she was more annoyed that I was holding something to her paw (to stop the bleeding) and hadn't let her go yet than, you know, the fact that she was bleeding. She didn't even make a noise when I cut wrong.

None of our cats have enjoyed getting a nail trim, despite our best efforts. So, we have to resort to bribery with cat treats to keep them calm lol Otherwise they WILL fight me tooth and nail, literally, to avoid a trim.
