I'm starting to feel disgust towards this protagonist. If someone stepped on my head they better be strong enough to deal with me.
I think it more or less stems with Japan's values in humility which the MC still values a lot.
Despite being powerful, he still cares for those lower than him because he has been there before. And he apologized to the old man and let him step on his head because while he is not totally involved in it, he is still "the Guardian" of his classmates so he is partially to be blamed. Kinda like how we blame parents too when their kid has a fuck up too.
The old man, while excessive in force, he is rightfully mad. All his family and life's work burned down by a couple of kids in just a few minutes, and then the guardian of said kids who burned it down comes in apologizing comes in... Multitude of emotions stir up but what is most upfront is anger. Anger that everything that your family and life has worked for burned and a commoner looking guardian not older than those kids who burned it is telling you that he will reimburse it? You will see it as a joke. And anger is an uncontrollable emotion most of the time.
The MC just chose to be an outlet to those emotions because he is also partially to be blamed. What he did there, while a defeatist outlook, is a normal action and besides, if you have the power to just take the lashing of their anger, why not just accept it?

Thanks for the translation! I was so sick of this guy being a metaphorical doormat for literally everyone when he could stomp them. Glad he finally snapped, but we’ll see if he actually grows a spine in the long run.

If i where that soldier i would have stopped the thing immediately by pushing and screaming, not because I'm a good person... But because i would be absolutely scared of what would happen if this kid just snaps... he is a child, no proper emotion management, already with a lot of pressure on him and horny... dude, that is an overlord recipe, he could just say fuck it and destroy everything, vent all his frustration, running out of fucks and what not

Next chapter will show if this MC is a full pushover or if he has a bit of a spine, since we already know he does not have much of that.

Since the lizardmen called him demon lord... is this an origin story of how humanity created the demon lord by means of sheer stupidity?

Did those kids start the fight on purpose hoping to fuck over the MCs plans? They’re the same whiny bitches that didn’t like him getting attention from Trice right?

Given the circumstances and everything, I don't blame the shopkeeper for being immensely infuriated with Kento who immediately took responsibility for the destruction of his shop. While stepping on Kento's head was a pretty violent action, I do hope the shopkeeper returns and apologizes for lashing out at him, especially since Kento handed over a good amount of money as apology.

Kento's attitude does pretty much reflect typical Japanese values, which don't mesh well with western values. But in the end, the ones to blame are the guys who started the fight and I hope they get their due punishment for the reckless destruction they brought out of nowhere. I don't think Kento will kill them or enslave them (permanently at least) but they will probably be forced to work off the debt they incurred (as they should)

I am expecting that they all actually suffer for this. Considering that Kento just gave away everything to cover their mess right after he gave away his savings to them I am expecting him to snap and be done protecting those 5. They probably will lose everything and need to start earning their own worth

Oh shit is Kento showing a hint of growing a singular testical? I mean it's a shame it took someone's shop getting nuked and him having to step up for it as opposed to ya know, when his classmate was essentially tortured to death under the princess but whatever I guess.
