While in universe it would make sense the city lord would hand out a punishment they're going to take it as going from enslavement to enslavement if it comes as a direct punishment from Klaus. As can be seen by the prison scene they don't think that they've done anything wrong but if the community comes together to find them guilty they would be more acceptable to it since Japanese society is communally judgemental. Either that or the punishment should be handed out directly by Kento so it would be viewed by them being punished by one of their own.

Issue here is the way these guys are acting are not sterotypical japanese cultural behavior, that goes to the MC while that would be effective to someone like him, but these guys are acting very much spoiled af and not self reflecting

Think there is a justifiably difference in the use of the nullification bracelets. True they were used by the other country to enslave them, but here it is their own unreasonable actions that directly leads to the use.

They've been a bit cagey on exactly how well these bracelets work... But as I understood it the "nullification" thing was a lie the other country told to convince people to put them on. If they really did only keep power under control that would be reasonable. But the slave bracelets still take away your free will to some extent (and yet not enough to not let the people complain out loud?).

I'm not sure why, but I feel like forced labor should still let you keep your free will... Even if you're being forced by someone else to do something, you still get the choice in any moment to try and resist. Or to speak up about something. That has to be less traumatic than being unable to control your own body if a superior orders you to do something.

If instead of bracelets they instead administered drugs that could make people completely lose their free will / ability to say no (a.k.a. roofies), it would still be unethical to use them on prisoners in a forced labor camp.

I have a feeling Klaus is already planning to invite Kent for a special visit to his home kukuku.
