She was made their nanny because she's not the baby mother but married to him. I've read too many Reddit infidelity stories to not see this pattern - but the cheating ones were usually the housewives who birthed other men's babies while they're still married to gaslighted, kind husbands.

He just sucks at anyting he did not deem important, due to not payin attention or asking how ot actually do things and assuming his first thought is the right one, and has no life skills.
