De La Cres is an old-as-fuck southern French term based on the Spanish/Portuguese "De La Cruz". In Literal translation, It means "Of The Cross" but in practical use, it means "sacred" or "holy" as a descriptor-title and was a term that non-nobles might pick up after showing a display of valor for the church. It fell out of usage as a title during the 13-1400s as best as I can tell, and remains mostly as a simple surname.
