Not gonna lie, that resolution left a bad aftertaste... Not that I think a more violent ending would have resolved much, but after the diatribe of a madman I was hoping for a little more then a small ammount of mental damage and being hung by the scruff in front of the king to recieve his punishment.

Here's to hoping that comes as background rumors in later chapters.

I don't think that noble is living another day. He knows too much that other nobles will be more than happy to kill him before he testifies. Even if he makes it to trial, the kind is going to utterly destroy his house to the point that dude will wish for death. MC just sealed his fate one way or another

O . o? Trial? Do they even have that kind of justice system in this kingdom? More like held in a dungeon while an interrogator of some sort extracts the useful information out of his head by magical and or mundane means.

I know how it’s a common trope in a lot of manga, but it’s annoying to see the scummy noble depicted as a deplorable, raving lunatic with their face contorted into appearing as the caricature of a super-duper evil scumbag. Reminds me of those strawman comics where the artist draws themselves as the level-headed voice of reason, while the other character has the opposite opinion, acts demented and can’t be reasoned with.

God forbid the protagonist could face a worthy foe who lacks in raw power, but does hold enough intelligence and political influence to pose as a more complex challenge to tackle.

He's avoiding messing with the existing power structure (social order) too much. That said, he's also sending a message to the king, "Do your job, fix this shit, or I'll have to fix it for you."

Keep in mind that he just wants to live a "normal" life. Fixing problems like this is just an annoying distraction from that life.

Think you've fundamentally misunderstood my comment. I wasn't looking for the MC to do more fix anything, only that the resolution was slightly underwhelming with how little of the noble's fate was presented.

The dud goes off on a page long diatribe and our reward for suffering thrue it is seeing him hung by the scruff like a naughty cat, and told it's now the king's problem...

yeah me too, i was expecting at least some good ole' fashioned torture and maiming, something that leaves not many scars but leaves him traumatized

I wanted more of a mental breakdown type resolution, like here they gave us glimpses of his crazy showing and then at the end he gave up, a death after a massive loss would’ve done way better imo but whatever.

He is still a person of capabilities and knowledge even though he is scum. Limit his power and position but allow him to contribute to make up for the wrongs he has done until a more competent kind and respectful person can replace him who will take no bullshit or evil. It is unfortunate, but we even have this kind of crap in our world. The only problem is they use blackmail to keep eachother silent and keep them towing the line.
