It's a trope in basically all animated mediums. It's just easier to draw if you don't have to change outfits every 5 pages.

I can only assume it is a cultural thing. You see it all over the place in anime, manga, and lite/web novels. Genres doesn't matter either, nor gender really. MC will be doing MC things and along comes a female antagonist. MC freezes for "reasons" and thot monologues, takes hostages, kills a support character, and or sexually assaults the MC. Then when their goal is accomplished, they walk/teleport/fly away. Usually with said hostages or villian the MC was previously kicking 50 shades of shit out of.

Don't take it as it's shown. Not the first time an antagonist is shown on a cover of a volume either in a sexy pose or in some kind of entanglement with MC but in the actually story it doesn't goes that way and/or she gets killed off.
The revenge porn about Hero Raoul has done it several times where a female antag is on the cover in a romantic/sexual pose with the MC only for him to torture or straight up murder her. I think a few other manga had an sexy antag on the cover but nothing romantic happens between them and MC.

On the other hand, sometimes it goes exactly that way. Like the one about the super strong perverted harem owning but never manage to have sex with his harem because he's a god damn moron shit MC.....manga. Where multiple antagonist girls who were on the cover actually did end up in his harem (not that it mattered because due to him being a unfathomable idiot, he'll wear himself out playing with them with toys and magic instead of sealing the deal!). If you couldn't tell, I REALLY hated that manga.

I mean, to be fair....I wouldn't be much of a righteous hero myself if someone turned me into a manga MC. I have a thing for maids and evil/crazy-sexual so I would definitely go for a honey trap just to turn around and turn against her afterwards. My biggest kryptonite would be a maid who was also a succubus who could charm through sex lol.

The only thing that would be a turn off is how use she is to seduction. That would send off red flags, not to her potentially using me but that she's done this countless times. Not my thing. Evil yet pure or pure enough is my go to!
