is this a Hero-saves-the-day moment or not? could be anything, since this series has shown some pleasant surprises to common tropes, like when those sages were introduces a while back being seen all powerful, yet being killed off easily. i do believe the author will in some ways have MC appear on the scene, simply because publishing a full volume without the MC acomplishing something would feel odd, but the scale could simply be much lower instead of winning the war singlehandly.

Considering the chapter title + we've seen glimpse of MC on his way previously, he should at least show up by the end of this chapter.

How many of these characters will die before he shows up is debatable, but I don't see Ayaka and her classmate followers dying just yet.
