JP Lit is rife with these fatal attacks that are barely ended, only to be followed by "I was just testing you." or "Oops, just a misunderstanding."

I would love to see a story where: 1) the attack ends up being fatal; 2) the actor then realizes their error; 3) they are then relentlessly hunted down and killed by some ally of the person that they killed. Even if they attempt to explain that it was error, they still get killed. (Or alternatively, they fail and get killed because they killed someone who would have been an ally.)

I don't know if it's been mentioned yet so i'll spoiler it just in case but...
The goddess intentionally tries to sow strife and discord among her "heroes" and the population at scale and favors the more ruthless and evil of them, especially sexual sadists and the like, this is why she kinda looks down on the black haired one (name escapes me).
It's actually likely that she summoned the group exactly because of the amount of scum among them.
I see now all makes perfect sense

I recall reading that wasn't meant to be directed at the lead, but their disgust towards the others not doing more. The LN is more clear than the ambiguity of the manga.
I had the some doubts about that scene, thank you for clearing that up!
Tbh, that scene isn't done well, since only one person stood up for him and the rest were showing only hostility towards him! We find out there were those too afraid to speak out but that too wasn't shown!
I'm guessing we are "watching" the scene trough his eyes then? Where everyone is (almost) equally to blame for discarding him, except for the president girl!

That would explain the differences in the mediums.

Intelligent, wise, understanding genuine heroes. So the high ranks aren't all @$$hles. Just the men.
Guess you weren't reading the same thing I was. The little sister was about to kill Eve, if she was any weaker eve would have probably already been dead. The fact that her first instinct was to kill Eve even when she looks completely different than any monster and intentions were not remotely aggressive before being attacked says a lot. I am unsure I would just want to leave her alive before seeing the older sister's strength.

Fair point. I was generalizing for the heroines.

Yet those two girls still abandoned the MC entirely for their own benefit at the beginning just like the rest of his classmates lmao

It is an understandable misunderstanding...except that the panther is wearing normal equipment and looks like an adventurer in every single way. Heck, she resembles a knight other than her species.
So, yeah, there is literally no reason for such an "understanding". And if you do think she's a threat to your friend or whatever, starting a fight or spooking her is the last thing you'd want to do given how close together they were, so that was also utterly moronic.

Yeah...and the lower ranks are mostly made up of girls that doom other people and undermine everything because they can't grow up in the slightest.

On top of her having normal equipment like a human would have. A wealthy one, at that. She had reason to be wary, given where they are, but no reason to assume the worst and definitely no reason for the idea of Eve being a monster to even cross her mind at all.

Yeah, the only dependable, reasonable, and calm headed person among those classmates is Hijiri. The only one who can outsmart her is Touka, he always two steps ahead with his cunning plans.
