Why does that librarian chick seem so damn shady to me? It’s like she’s egging him on to go look for danger to prove himself or something? She’s even bringing up the biggest bad in the lineup as if she’s pushing them together.

@lazynoodles422 Ling Wen is not pushing them together, she doesn't have that ulterior motive.

Ling Wen as a person doesnt, but her purpose in this chapter IS telling XL about HC
( it's a role put on her, not her intention)

She acts as an informat for both the readers and Xie Lian.
XL was curious of the owner of the butterflies, so she provided an explanation. That's it for her as a person.

For the story, this was just a basic foreshadowing, so that first readers get an idea what's about to come, and ppl who've already read it can drown in their tears.

Please dont hate on her! She's a really well rounded out charachter who's rlly hard working and the heavenly court would collapse in her absence :>
