Really does felt like Coolkyou just ran out of material after the idaten got captured. Not really much of a conclusion so much an ending, if you catch my drift.
I'm not quite sure what he saw in the original web manga. Even the highlights of the series mostly amounted to "demons are bad but are they GENOCIDE-worthy???". I know he's always been something of a horny chuuni dude so it does fit his normal view more than something like Dragon Maid, but it never did felt like there was much to it. Miku is probably the thing that could provide the most content but she wasn't a threat since she couldn't actually counter the idaten at the end of the day. It just felt like he wanted to make an interesting philosophy experiment + worldbuilding exercise (with bonus rape scenes!!) over a story with characters.

Was at least an interesting exercise at the end of the day.

Thanks for finishing up the TLs, happy to get to read the ending even if I thought it was bad.

But you know what, if all the characters are completely ambivalent to the ending, I guess I am too. The struggles against the demons were basically pointless because the demon king and all the other demons turned out to be nice guys at the end of the day. All the conflicts didn't even need to happen and the characters are completely back to the status quo of the start of the series, except Ysley is a dad now. You could read chapter one and then read this chapter and basically nothing important will have happened in between.

Cool did a great job with the art at least.

So basically this is another stage of the cycle of war. What Miku accomplished was to bring the demons back to the fray and pave the way for another war in the future, just now she's taking joy in that the idatens except for Gil and Hayato are completely neutered and peaceful. Miku and the demons won this round and they'll have the upper hand once war breaks out again in the future.

The ending feels bad because we're not getting real closure. Though Rin's happy now, yay.

Thanks for finishing this
So, the "important" part in the end is that, everything will loop, someone will want to dominate everything and will do nasty stuff for it....possibly new demons will be born/created and back to square one we'll go in 1k years....is that it?

And at the center....I guess there's still Miku. And guess what? We'll still never know how or why....FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUCCKKK
Enough, this gag end with this chapter.
In the end, it's now my headcanon that Miku is a "needed" character to not make the story implode on itself after 6 chapters.
Miku is the indestructible pillar that stands against the overpowerness of the idaten so that the story doesn't reduce to "demons bad, idatens good, idatens slaughter demons"

I think in the end while a bit disappointing Miku frames it the way life is. Conflict is the foundation of human nature and while the idaten have the force to change the world their indifference will not solve those issues. Miku made it so they only know peace and one day the table (might) turn. That said I think its more a "life goes on" type deal where the idaten simply needed to be placated to allow the demon race to continue to proliferate.

P cute how they used the ed animation for the finale w/ the girls

Still wish we had gotten the Gil crashout lol.

Is that the end? Dunno why, but I expected a bigger, more sinister and cruel twist.

Also looks like Cory has completely moved on. Beware the dangers of dead fish sex everyone 😔
Yeah ending feels hella rushed. I checked for a long time last year if it was cancelled or what but it seems this was the planned ending so I was like....

Thanks for finishing this off, it was an interesting ride. Solving things via thinking around the box but with zero clean conclusions doesn't seem that bad a way to finish it, and I'm reminded of what Yang said in LOGH as a counter to what Miku said here, along the lines of "I can't secure an eternal peace but so what? Even a few decades and then it's up to the next gen is still pretty nice." And as it hints in the very end too, the thing with the Idaten is that they have all the time there is. They can always keep going, always come back, and always change their approach if the situation necessitates it. Pretty strong backstop within their blue&orange morality.

So yeah, ending did peter out a little but I still think that's kinda appropriate for this, and not sorry to have followed along.

I remember a while ago someone noted that Cook-Kyu liked this mangaka's work and volunteered to do the art, but got busy with his other personal projects, and no longer wanted to work on it. What that meant was it had to be wrapped up, and thus we get the accelerated plot developments and "self-imposed" axe.

What do you mean on the last page?
That the vol9 didn't include any extra pages?
According to what was written on the raws we were meant to get OVA containing the lives of the Idaten before then reincarnated as Idaten along with other stuff. But I couldnt find any trace of it anywhere online. No proof it was ever made
