Beside the now overused "fanservice" (that includes baits like getting scouted as an av actress, almost "compensated dating" with that ceo and now strip mahjong) which we can gloss over, what I find really stupid is that she doesn't seem to understand that she will be broke for the near future. She literally doesn't own any money she will make, as it should go to pay that debt she owns to Femme Fatale.
But no...let's bet other people money and fuck up their plan....

I get being frustrated with someone like her in real life (and but most people reading aren't actually dealing with her so can safely laugh at her dumb antics and failures. But I also think they make her this dumb and impulsive to give her a place from where character development can occur over the story.

In the end, it all comes down to gambling. It will would be the most Sumire like thing for her to fail & yet somehow still come on top of it. I give bonus points that old man Kanzaki isn't a creepy degenerate (I hope). Thanks for the translations.

I think the fact is that she is just fundamentally flawed, like... It's played for laughs sometimes but it's there. she HAS impulse control issues. She IS a gambling addict, she is a heavy smoker. But she is also very beautiful, and talented at what she does. And she does have a heart in there somewhere. An inferior story would downplay her bad characteristics. Or justify them, make her be a "trauma survivor". I feel Sumire is a complex character, not a hero. The hero is Yuusei, most definitely.

But I know it's a me problem. I know it's my fault for reading manga and wanting to find something different from reality rather than shutting my brain off and just read and laugh.
And I also get that a character like Sumire has a ton of opportunities for character development, but it's been 34 chapters and not a single one was used yet

Rather, I still find some situations great comedy moments: as I said, I don't mind when her sexuality is used...it's actually funny (like when she proposed strip mahjong now, I laughed and thought "classic Sumire")
I'm ok with her being a smoker or a gambling addict (again, I also find it funny when she burns money at pachinko)....the only thing I would like to see is her understanding that there's people like Yuusei that's trying to help her and giving her a "second chance" after her idol days...so rather than letting her impulses prevail in every situation, at least when the others are involved, I'd like her to not be like this dumb as in this chapter.
