People have always been attracted to androgyny, though not always for the same reasons. Women love the archetype of a handsome man who can also understand them as a female best friend and not have toxic masculinity. Men love the archetype of a cool girl who also shares their interests as a "bro" and with whom they don't have to think "what are women thinking". Plus, if an attractive person's androgyny maintains the right balance between male and female representation, it's just hot on a psychological level.woah she cut off all that hair...
That's like 8 years of growth. It might not ever grow back as thick given that she she's regrowing it in her 30s now.
Also, it seems strange that a male character cosplay would cause a female character photobook to sell out to women . wouldn't they just come to see the cosplay then leave? unless people are only allowed to take pictures with the cosplayers if they buy a photobook , but that would probably be too slow to sell out with if they have to take photos with several hundred people
if a female character cosplay was good and they sold a good photobook then wouldn't word just spread during the convention and male customers would make there way into the women's section?
yeah I get why women love her male character cosplay, I just don't understand why , if women love her male character cosplay, those women would want to buy the female-character photobook.People have always been attracted to androgyny, though not always for the same reasons. I already wrote this above. Many women are attracted to the image of ikemen onna or bishonen because they combine attractive male images with the personality of a reliable female friend who can understand the female experience and is devoid of toxic masculinity. Have you ever noticed that shoujo and josei masculinity is often associated with male aggression, dominance and rudeness, while kind, caring and friendly characters are emphatically feminine?yeah I get why women love her male character cosplay, I just don't understand why , if women love her male character cosplay, those women would want to buy the female-character photobook.
I still don't see how that answers my question . feels like you misread what I was saying. but oh well.I already wrote this above. Tomboys/femboys or ikemen onna for male audiences often work according to similar logic, only based on male expectations.
Not sure, but I think they might be alluding to the fans liking the gap between Ikemen Sumire and female Sumire, so they feel more comfortable around male Sumire because they know she is actually female and in turn the photobook reminds them of that gender gap while also serving as a memory of when they bought it (and thus, of the male cosplay itself). Not sure if that makes sense.I still don't see how that answers my question . feels like you misread what I was saying. but oh well.

part most certainly doesn't hold true. I think that like most things when taken at a societal level it comes in trends. People demonizing androgyny and then holding it as a show of beauty maybe a hundred or so years later.People have always been attracted to androgyny
Have you ever read Renaissance literature? Shakespeare literally has a big play about this.I do agree with you to a degree but the

They showcased it at some point: they can’t say no when ikemen-Sumire asks them nicely to buy it. That’s pretty much host-club energy. Or the same “logic” as why would anybody buy litteral dozens of the same music album to “support” their oshi in an idol group.yeah I get why women love her male character cosplay, I just don't understand why , if women love her male character cosplay, those women would want to buy the female-character photobook.
Have you ever heard of “to each their own”? Androgyny weirds me out. I like my women, well… womanly. And in my experience, only very young or inexperienced people get attracted to androgynous types. Wich probably explains why it’s more common in East Asia than in the West.Have you ever read Renaissance literature? Shakespeare literally has a big play about this.
You wrote "to each their own," but you literally tried to attack those who have different tastes in the same post, lmao. And no, androgyny isn't more common in Asia than in the West. It's just a more visible part of culture in Asia. Apparently, you haven't heard of Shakespeare, let alone burlesque. For example, it was the West that created the tomboy character. They showcased it at some point: they can’t say no when ikemen-Sumire asks them nicely to buy it. That’s pretty much host-club energy. I didn’t attack anybody, there’s nothing wrong with being young or inexperienced, we all go through it. Also, you do realise that all the examples you give are several centuries old? They’re as relevant to modern western society as samurai are to modern eastern society. You’re pretty much saying everyone in the West has to be a fujoshi because ancient Greeks had a habit of older men shagging younger ones: those generalizations are plain nonsense. If people were actually attracted to androgyny on a wide basis, then trans people/models would be a massive hit: I believe we can agree this isn’t the case…You wrote "to each their own," but you literally tried to attack those who have different tastes in the same post, lmao. Dude, you're either trolling me or just incredibly clueless. If you're genuinely not a troll and simply don't realize how mutually exclusive your comments are, then trust me, it's not your place to talk about someone's immaturity, lmao. This is my last response to you; I'm not going to waste my time on someone trying to push their own opinion on the internet.I didn’t attack anybody, there’s nothing wrong with being young or inexperienced, we all go through it.
